Academy musicians study instrumental performance, composition, jazz, musical theatre and opera. As the Academy approaches its bicentenary it goes from strength to strength. The Academy's Alumni Network provides all former students of the Royal Academy of Music with a wide-ranging professional support service and social network. It aims to enrich musical culture through the training and education of the most talented students to the highest standards. Find out more:. Wassily Kandinsky saw colours when he heard music. Subpatch Collective, founded here at the Academy, think of music in terms of space and texture. Working with a textile artist and an electrical engineer, Jon, Jared, and Lazar Subpatch want to create an interactive 21 square foot display of textiles, sensor-activated lights, and tiny speakers, which visitors with explore — and add to — using their phones.
Along with these textiles, Subpatch Collective will write music for the Brompton Quartet, a London string quartet, to be played in the space. An immersive, textile and sonic installation creating communities around ove.
