I just got my learners permit and i start driving with my mom. Is it hard to learn to drive? How Long will it take to learn? Where is the best place to drive for a beginner. Its pretty easy to drive then again ive always been around cars and at my dads shop driving hi-lows and stuff. Just take it to an empty parking lot so you dont hurt anyone and just drive around. Try and practice parking, stopping in time, etc. Driving is, in fact, a lot easier than you think it is.
It will take a couple years to get it down where you don't have to think about it, but to actually drive it will take a week.
You will not be great, at all, but it just takes practice. Take it slow! Speeding when you are learning, or anytime, is really really stupid. Besides that, the scariest thing to do in driving is driving on the freeway. It's fast, people change lanes like crazy, and there are old people who don't pay attention to anyone else. You will always need to park somewhere! Practice stopping, starting, making turns at intersections, checking your speed while driving, down-shifting up and down hills if available, and making U and 3-point turns. If you are learning on stick-shift find a hill and learn how to start from a stop using the parking brake then move on to using no brakes. Learn how to watch where you are driving while you glance at the speed, your mirrors, then back to where you are driving.
If you make a mistake, learn from it- don't fear it! It took me about 2 weeks of driving everyday for about 45 minutes to an hour to get the hang of it.
